The over-arching goal is to improve student learning and achievement in core subject areas. This will be accomplished via the Kent County Collaborative Core Curriculum (KC4) for all grade levels. This quality, proven and comprehensive curriculum promotes core subject mastery, is teacher-created, standards-based and fully aligned to Michigan Curriculum Framework standards, benchmarks and grade level content expectations. Using various learning styles and teaching strategies, it provides the foundation for expanded learning opportunities and enables all students to achieve academic success. The academy will focus on areas of student need as identified by locally developed and state standardized assessments.
Developed by the Kent ISD, the Curriculum Crafter Tool provides a clear correlation and full alignment with the Common Core State Standards and College and Career Readiness Standards. This dynamic Web-based curriculum management and design tool results in a research-based curriculum rooted in the Common Core State Standards. The tool provides differentiated lessons and assessments, maps and pacing guides and grade level comparisons with an emphasis on the power standards for each content area. In addition the tool will support the mastery of a standards-based educational system aligned to the vision and mission of the academy.
