Congressman Conyers first stop was at HPRA-Barber Campus where he signed up for "Real Men Read." Mr. Conyers read a book to the 3rd grade class. Our Congressman also shared a little about his journey as a elected official. Students had lots of questions.
Congressman Conyers also visited the HPRA-High School. He was welcomed by the Ms. Ashford and Mr. Runnel"s classroom combined. Conyers talked about his role in Washington D.C. and his role in the cities he serves. The students asked questions and took pictures.

UAW-Ford National Programs Center (NPC) paid for the remodeling of the Highland Park Renaissance Academy weight room. The NPC is a partnership between UAW & Ford. This historic partnership is responsible for building better jobs for our members & employees but we also build better communities. Better communities by donating to non-profits, schools, and other charitable organizations that help strengthen our neighborhoods & communities. Jimmy Settles, VP of UAW & Marty Mulloy VP Ford Motor Company& Jim Tetreault VP of North American Manufacturing led this project.

HPRA-High School parents, staff and students welcomed, Wayne County Commissioner Martha Scott. March 8, 2013 is "International Women's Day" and HPRA-HS invited Commissioner Scott to speak to a group of parents, students and staff. Commissioner Scott spoke about her journey over time, starting with; graduating from Highland Park high school to her service for the people of Highland Park, Hamtramak and Detroit over a 41 year span as a elected official, a community resident of Highland Park and as a parent. Commissioner Scott answered question about a variety of topics. We thank Wayne County Commissioner Martha Scott for choosing to spend this very important day for women in world.
